This program is designed as a last resort for those who have exhausted all other financial options. Before applying, we ask that applicants explore every available resource, including personal savings, family assistance, credit, investment funds, retirement accounts, and State-sponsored programs.

The Help America Hear Program is designed to assist individuals who meet specific criteria and demonstrate financial need. Our application process evaluates several key factors to ensure that hearing aids are provided to those who need them most.

Applicants are assessed based on:

Annual Gross Household Income – Eligibility is determined by income tiers outlined in the application.

Insurance Coverage – Consideration of existing hearing aid benefits and any applicable co-pays.

Financial Assets – Evaluation of savings, investments, trusts, and other financial resources.

Hearing Loss Severity – Applicants must have moderate to profound hearing loss to qualify.

This structured process allows us to provide life-changing hearing aids to those who would otherwise go without, ensuring that financial barriers don’t stand in the way of better hearing and a better quality of life.

Who Can Apply for the Help America Hear Program?

The Help America Hear Program is available to individuals who meet the financial and medical eligibility criteria within one of our three tiers. Approved applicants receive two prescription hearing aids, custom ear molds, and one year of limited service.

Eligibility Tiers:

  • Tier 1

    • Gross Household Income: $26,000 or less

    • Financial Assets: None

    • Hearing Aid Benefit: None

    • Application Fee: $300 ($150 due with application; remaining balance due upon approval)

  • Tier 2

    • Gross Household Income: $26,001 – $31,000

    • Allowable Assets: Up to $5,000*

    • Hearing Aid Benefit: $500 or less for two hearing aids

    • Application Fee: $600 ($250 due with application; remaining balance due upon approval)**

  • Tier 3

    • Gross Household Income: $31,001 – $36,000

    • Allowable Assets: Up to $10,000*

    • Hearing Aid Benefit: $500 or less for two hearing aids

    • Application Fee: $1,000 ($250 due with application; remaining balance due upon approval)**

* Allowable assets include money market accounts, mutual funds, 401(k) plans, IRAs, checking/savings accounts, stocks, bonds, CDs, T-bills, annuities, and trust funds.

** Tiers 2 & 3 applicants must submit $250 with the application to begin processing. The remaining balance is due upon approval.

Additional Costs (Not Covered by the Program):

Once approved, applicants are responsible for the cost of:

  • Hearing evaluation

  • Medical clearance

  • Batteries and accessories

  • Extended loss & damage warranties (highly recommended)

Application Process:

  4. Print and complete the Hearing Specialist Checklist and Medical Clearance Form (unless using the waiver).

  5. Upload all required documents to the online application at the designated sections.

Applicants may only apply once every five years.
